I suddenly couldn't find a tutorial I really liked in the past. So this is... mostly for personal reference? I guess?

Here you guys can has some tutorial anyway. I tried to keep it text-free for all you TL : DR people.

I made it in Paintool SAI but it should translate into Photoshop.

I highly recommend SAI over photoshop for that part. Basically I just lay down a bunch of chunky lines and then blend the shit out of it. It always turns out nicer in SAI. c:

Also, the best thing you can do to keep from blending everything into a mess is to keep each level of the eye on separate layers (ie, one for the skin, one for the whites, one for the iris, etc). I also really like to use these brushes, it adds a lot more versatility: [link]

sweet, thanks. I'm switching over to SAI cause it's a lot easier for digital painting. Thanks!

Photoshop is good for a lot of things, but SAI is better (IMO) for digital artistry.

it has a better airbrushy thing anyways, in photoshop you have to screw around with a ton of brush settings to get anywhere close.

Thanks for this tut! How did you get the glowy eye effect at the end were you working on a luminosity layer? I'd love a quick explanation of steps 13-15 if you could <3 Thanks!
